Billy Godleman has praised the support of the Derbyshire crowds, and says that squad will be aiming to give them even more to cheer about this season.

Last season saw record ticket sales in the Vitality Blast for Derbyshire, with home clashes with Yorkshire Vikings at Queen’s Park, and Notts Outlaws in Derby selling out.

Godleman, who captained the side to a maiden Finals Day appearance in 2019, is looking forward to playing in front of the supporters again in the new campaign.

“We’re really excited for the new campaign. We played some really good cricket in the Vitality Blast to get to Finals Day last season. It would be really nice to get there again and go at least on step further,” said Godleman.

“Whether it’s a sellout game, or any game at home, we’re incredibly well received and it really helps when you are on a good run.

“We’re really excited to play in front of our home supporters and give them some wins to cheer once again”

Australia internationals, Sean Abbott and Ben McDermott will both be available for the Vitality Blast, and Godleman is excited about what they will bring to the squad.

“They will bring a lot of skill and experience, they have played cricket all around the world,” he added.

“To have them, not just on the field but in the dressing room as well, passing on their advice will be really beneficial as well.”
