Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s bid to host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be boosted by a partnership with Status Social.

The East Midlands’ largest specialist social media agency is helping the Club to build a social media strategy that will be used if the city is picked to stage matches in the 2017 tournament.

At the start of April, the Club launched its #WereBackingTheBid campaign for Derby to become a host city for the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2017. The Club unveiled a set of giant cricket stumps, manufactured by Briggs of Burton, on the gateway to the city on the Pentagon Roundabout as part of the bid.

Since founding in 2011, Status Social has trained more than 1,300 business people in how to use social media and manages social media accounts for local, national and international companies.

Status Social Director, Mark Saxby said: “Social media has proved itself to be an effective way to increase profits and brand awareness and we’re looking forward to seeing the results from Derbyshire as they get stuck in.

“Since the social media strategy process began, Derbyshire has also been recognised as one of the UK’s most influential first-class county cricket clubs on social media.

“We are excited that our work with Derbyshire has been included in their World Cup bid. It will be great for Derby if it can become a host city for such a prestigious event.”

Leicestershire arrive at The 3aaa County Ground on Tuesday 22 September for the start of the final LV= County Championship fixture of 2015. Supporters can save £4 by purchasing tickets in advance.
