Luis Reece struck 122 on Day Three of the Bob Willis Trophy fixture against Durham at Emirates Riverside.

Wayne Madsen (52) and Billy Godleman (51) also passed 50 as Derbyshire moved to within 45 runs of maximum batting points, ending the day 355-4, with Matt Critchley (46 not out) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (26 not out).

An overnight declaration from Durham, on 337-9, saw the pair of Godleman and Reece open things up for Derbyshire on Day Three, with the aim of earning batting points and extending their lead at the top of the north group.

Both batsmen took their time during the first hour of the innings, before three fours in an over from Godleman off Gareth Harte set about a momentum shift, as the scoring accelerated.

When he reached 32, Godleman passed 9,000 first-class runs, and the milestones kept coming at Emirates Riverside, as the Derbyshire captain made it to 50 with the last ball before lunch, with the half-century coming in 103 balls and including eight fours.

After the interval, Durham made their breakthrough as Godleman chipped a ball from Potts up into the air, and it was plucked out of the sky by Michael Jones, two runs shy of the century partnership.

Reece, however, remained at the crease and he reached his own half-century in 140 balls, including five fours, as he and Madsen added 61 before tea, meaning Derbyshire would head into the final session on 159-1.

Madsen became the third Derbyshire player to pass 50 shortly after the interval, but he would only add a further two runs before he was bowled by Matt Salisbury.

That dismissal came shortly after Reece reached three figures, bringing up his seventh first-class century in 217 balls, including eight fours and one six, with the all-rounder eventually falling to Chris Rushworth for 122.

Matt Critchley and Leus du Plooy added 69 for the fourth wicket, before the latter was bowled by Harte for 40 shortly before the close of play, as Derbyshire ended the day on 355-4.
