Sam Conners, Luis Reece, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Nick Potts and George Scrimshaw all claimed wickets on Day Two of the four-day pre-season friendly against Lancashire.

Scrimshaw (2-28) and Conners (2-36) were the pick of the bowlers as much of the attack were able to get overs in, while Alex Davies finished unbeaten on 130 for the hosts.

Having batted for the entirety of Day One, it was the turn of Derbyshire’s bowlers to get some crucial game time ahead of the new season on the second day.

Reece and Conners struck early to remove Keaton Jennings (1) and Josh Bohannon (0), but an impressive century from Davies halted the visiting quicks’ momentum.

Hudson-Prentice had Stephen Croft caught by Billy Godleman for 37, while Conners dismissed Dane Vilas (39) the same way shortly after tea.

Scrimshaw is one of a number of promising pace bowlers looking to nail down a position in the first team this season, and he gave a glimpse of what he can do in the 64th over, when he trapped Rob Jones (3) lbw.

Academy graduate, Potts, made his mark late in the day, bowling George Balderson (9), before Scrimshaw had Danny Lamb caught behind for 11 to bring proceedings to a close.
