Matchday Guide: Yorkshire Vikings 8 August

Derbyshire County Cricket Club return to Queen’s Park, Chesterfield for the first time since 2019 when they face Yorkshire Vikings in the Royal London Cup on Sunday 8 August; 11am start.

Following the nationwide easing of restrictions from 19 July, we are pleased to confirm that more spectators will be able to enjoy live cricket in Derbyshire.

The majority of our ground regulations, which are detailed further below, will revert to how we have operated in previous seasons, however certain things will have changed and we encourage all spectators to read this guide thoroughly to help make your visit a safe and enjoyable experience.

We want to assure all supporters that your safety and enjoyment remain our main priority and our ground safety, cleaning and staff procedures remain the same as we all transition back to greater normality.

We ask all supporters to not travel to Queen’s Park if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.

If you have any questions ahead of your visit to Queen’s Park, please email [email protected]. All ground regulations are subject to change, based on the latest government guidance. Thank you for your support.

Seating & Viewing

Spectator Seating: Spectators will no longer be required to choose a spectator zone upon arrival and remain within that area throughout the day. Supporters will be able to use any area of seating which is not cordoned off. Supporters are not required to remain in the same seat for the duration of their visit.

Spectators can bring their own chairs to sit on the grassed or concrete areas, however walkways must be kept clear at all times and stewards may direct supporters to move should they be blocking access.

Please note that the Club is operating with unallocated/unreserved seating and seat numbers/ticks are not in use for this fixture.

Supporters will not be able to access the playing area throughout the duration of the day.

The Club reserves the right to close certain spectator areas dependant on weather or attendance.

Members Area

Members of both counties will have exclusive access to the seating area to the side of the Pavilion.

Please note, the Members area, as with seating around the ground, is unreserved and we kindly ask Members to not leave items unattended on seats/benches.

Due to operational difficulties and COVID-19 restrictions, the Club is unable to offer an on-the-day hot food service for Club Members at Queen’s Park. Catering units will be serving a variety of hot and cold food and drink, while Members are able to bring their own refreshments.

Incora Executive Members will have exclusive access to a Marquee facility close to the Pavilion and will be able to pre-order food via our new Tell The Chef system and will be sent an email with details of how to do this. For any issues linked to pre-ordering, please email [email protected].

Further Updated Ground Regulations – from 19.07.2021

Following the nationwide easing of restrictions from 19 July, the Club is pleased to confirm that we can welcome more supporters back to watching live cricket in Derbyshire.

While certain restrictions on supporters have eased, our priority is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all spectators and therefore our cleanliness and staff procedures will remain the same.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club understands that within our supporter-base there will be different feelings regarding the easing of restrictions and while our regulations are designed to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we ask all supporters to respect each other and show consideration whilst at one of our venues. Thank you for your support.

Further details are outlined below:

  • Hand sanitiser will be provided at each entrance, along with points around the ground, and we encourage all supporters to regularly sanitise where possible.
  • NHS Track & Trace: While it is no longer mandatory to support the NHS Track & Trace system, we encourage all supporters wishing to scan the NHS Track & Trace app to do so via the QR codes at the entrance gates.
  • Face coverings: Face coverings are no longer mandatory, however we respect the wishes of those supporters wanting to continue wearing a face covering and we do encourage supporters to wear a covering (unless medically exempt) when moving around the venue.
  • Hygiene: The Club encourages all supporters to maintain high standards of hygiene and hand sanitiser will be provided at all toilets, as well as within spectator areas. We ask spectators to respect other visitors and to cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing and wash your hands immediately afterwards. Derbyshire County Cricket Club staff will continue to wear a face covering (unless medically exempt) when serving supporters at catering facilities.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s Spectator Code of Conduct can be viewed HERE.

Club Shop

Supporters will be able to purchase items from the Club Shop by the main entrance (near the conservatory).

This will include replica shirts which are currently 20% off the RRP – just £31.99 for an Adult Vitality Blast Shirt, or £25.59 for Juniors. Not valid for the 10% Members discount, but Members can use their £20 150 Club voucher.

A limited amount of stock is available to purchase online HERE. Vouchers are not valid for online use.

Scorecards: As part of the Club’s initiative to reduce paper waste, scorecards will not be on sale. A blank scorecard template can be downloaded for free, HERE.

Weather

There are no covered seating areas at Queen’s Park, including the Members facility.

Supporters are encouraged to check the latest weather forecast before planning their visit and prepare accordingly. While refreshments will be available from outlets around the ground, the Club advises supporters to bring plenty of bottled water.

If it is raining on the morning of a matchday approaching the start time (11am), we encourage supporters not to travel if they live locally and to wait for the rain to stop.

All official updates on play, which are provided solely by the Match Officials, will be communicated via the Club’s Twitter account HERE. You do not need to sign-up for a Twitter account to see these updates.

Catering Information

Catering units will be located around the ground for supporters to purchase a variety of hot and cold food and drinks.

1870 Business Club partner, Brampton Brewery, will bring a pop-up bar serving a range of locally-brewed cask ales and other refreshments.

Spectators are permitted to bring their own refreshments to this fixture, however alcohol is limited to four standard size cans.

Cashless Venue

From the start of the 2021 season, Derbyshire will operate a cashless policy across all Club-managed points of sale on site – from ticket gates, to catering.

There are two reasons for this, the first being a proven increase in the speed of service when accepting card payments only and the second being hygiene as part of our commitment to keeping spectators and staff safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

All of our Club-operated catering and bar tills will accept all major debit/credit cards, as well as contactless payment options, including Apple and Android Pay.

Match Centre

Derbyshire’s Royal London Cup fixture versus Yorkshire Vikings will be Live Streamed on the club website through our improved Match Centre.

With Live Streaming, in-play scorecards, ball by ball commentary, clips, statistics and so much more, you can put yourself at the heart of the action, even from the comfort of your own home.

Clips and updates will also be provided via our social media channels, so make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, so you never miss a moment of the action.

Please note that, due to this fixture taking place at Queen’s Park, a reduced Live Stream will be in operation.
