Captain Billy Godleman will miss the remainder of the Royal London Cup due to a quad injury, but the batsman is expected to be back during the remaining LV= County Championship fixtures.

Godleman dropped out of the match against Warwickshire during the warm up and a subsequent scan revealed a pulled quad muscle. The skipper will miss the final five group matches of the 50-over competition, but is likely to be back for the return of red ball cricket late in August, if his rehabilitation progresses as expected.

Alex Hughes returned from a side strain to captain the side in Godleman’s absence against Warwickshire, and he will continue to deputise for the duration of the club captain’s injury. While he is an experienced all-rounder, Hughes is likely to only feature as a batsman for the next few games, as he continues his own recovery.

Fast bowler Michael Cohen has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a lower back injury, which he picked up on Day One of against Essex earlier this month. The 22-year-old quick has been referred to a specialist to determine the full extent of the injury, but he will miss a minimum of two months.

Wayne Madsen is unlikely to feature in the 50-over campaign, although the batsman is showing encouraging progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury and has an outside chance of playing in the red ball fixtures.

George Scrimshaw’s foot injury will see him miss the Glamorgan fixture, but he’s expected to be available for selection before the end of the Royal London Cup, while fellow fast bowlers Dustin Melton (heel) and Sam Conners (hip tendon tear) continue to make good progress and should feature in red ball cricket before the end of the season. Youngster Nick Potts has also stepped up his recovery from an ankle injury and could feature this season.

Harvey Hosein remains absent through concussion, after being struck on the helmet against Leicestershire, and has been referred to a specialist. There is no timeframe on his return, due to concussion protocols outlining a minimum of six days away from cricket from the date which symptoms are no longer shown.
