Joe Root hit 60 not out as England tightened their grip on the first Test against South Africa in Durban.
The tourists ended the third day on 172-3 in their second innings – a lead of 261. Root was unbeaten at stumps, alongside James Taylor (24 not out) as the visitors look to build a substantial lead.
Earlier, Moeen Ali (4-69) and Stuart Broad (4-25) took four wickets apiece as South Africa’s batting line-up fell apart.
The hosts were dismissed for 214, with Dean Elgar top scoring, carrying his bat for 118 – but England remain in an excellent position to push for only a second win in 16 away Tests.
There was more bad news for the Proteas as senior fast bowler Dale Steyn was forced off with injury.
