Derbyshire County Cricket Club has recorded a surplus of £15,588 for the financial year ending December 2015, the Club’s fifth successive year of surplus.

The Club recorded a record turnover for the 2015 financial year, driven by significant increases in Commercial, Match and Conference & Events sales.

Membership and Ticket sales was up by 20% on 2014, while Commercial income grew by nearly 30% to pass the half million pound mark for the first time.

The new in-house Derbyshire Experience catering operation has allowed the Club to increase margins on food and beverage, on both matchday and non-matchdays, and has seen Conference & Events income grow by 68%.

The increased income has allowed the Club to continue its investment in the playing and coaching budgets and also to support a programme of investment in The 3aaa County Ground, in partnership with the England & Wales Cricket Board and Derby City Council.

Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “Achieving a fifth successive year of surplus is another step in the right direction. It is important that we now build on this performance to enable us to increase investment in the playing budget still further.

“We must continue to grow our Derbyshire Experience conference & events business, while we also expect additional growth in our NatWest T20 Blast audiences and 1870 Business Club network of local businesses, which passed over 100 members in 2015.

“Across the Club, there is a commitment to continued investment in the playing side, whilst also improving facilities for Members, supporters and corporate guests.”

Chairman, Chris Grant added: “The year 2015 once again saw progress across the business and included the completion of the first phase of our multi-million pound renovation of The 3aaa County Ground.

“We were also successful in securing further funding from Derby City Council for the next phase of developments, which includes a new £2million Media Centre complex due to be complete this summer.

“We are grateful for the support of all our Members, supporters, sponsors, 1870 Business Club partners and conference customers for their loyal support. Their backing is crucial to our push for long-term sustainable success both on and off the field.”
