Mark Watt played his part with bat and ball as Scotland earned four ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League Two victories in just seven days.
Watt, who will be joining Derbyshire for the entire Vitality Blast campaign, started all four ODIs against Papua New Guinea and Oman at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The spinner claimed a wicket in each game, with best figures of 1-6 in five overs during the first match against PNG, but it was in the final fixture of the quartet that he really came to the fore.
In a Player of the Match performance, Watt took 1-38 before arriving at the crease with Scotland 173-6, chasing 226 to win, and eclipsed his previous high-score in an ODI (31 not out), by striking an unbeaten 37 and hitting the winning runs with just one ball remaining.
Having previously played for Derbyshire in 2019, Watt will return to The Incora County Ground this summer, after impressing at the ICC Twenty20 World Cup last year.
Watt joins an impressive Derbyshire Falcons side, including PSL star, Shan Masood, 2021 Lanka Premier League winner, Suranga Lakmal, and Wayne Madsen, as Mickey Arthur’s side aim for a second Finals Day appearance in four seasons.
