With Derbyshire gearing up to face India in T20 action on Friday 1 July, we take a look at the stars of the IPL who could feature at The Incora County Ground.

Chennai Super Kings recorded just their third win of IPL 2022 thanks to 25-year-old Ruturaj Gaikwad’s sensational 182 partnership with Devon Conway. Gaikwad was the leading run-scorer in IPL 2021 and his 99 will certainly give the Indian selectors something to think about ahead of this summer’s T20 between India and Derbyshire Falcons.

Rahul Tewatia’s unbeaten 43 helped Gujarat Titans stay top of the IPL, with the batter’s heroic innings culminating in fine fashion, as he struck Australia and Royal Challengers Bangalore quick, Josh Hazlewood, for four to win the match with three balls remaining.

Saturday’s second match saw Mumbai Indians sneak past Rajasthan Royals. Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century was enough to cancel out Jos Buttler’s 67 earlier in the day. The IPL veteran is looking to cement his place at number three, yet another reliable top-order batter who could well feature at The Incora County Ground in July.

New entrants to this year’s tournament, Lucknow Super Giants, climbed to second in the table through exciting young quick, Mohsin Khan, whose four overs went for just 16 runs and his four wickets included the all-important scalp of Rishabh Pant. All-rounder, Axar Patel put up some strong resistance but his 42 was not enough to see the Delhi Capitals home.

Kolkata Knight Riders were steered to victory by Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana in a relatively low scoring clash with Buttler’s high flying Rajasthan Royals. Singh made his List A debut at the age of just 16 and, at 24, has now matured into an exciting all-rounder, his innings of 42* (23) may pique the interest of anyone at The Incora County Ground this summer.
