Leicestershire pre-season friendly off

Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire’s pre-season friendly versus Leicestershire, scheduled to start on Tuesday 29 March at The 3aaa County Ground, has been cancelled.

This is due to the on-going development work around the ground which is part of phase two of the Club’s overall ground development project.

Significant work is due to take place next week to ensure the ground and playing surface is ready for the start of the new season.

The Falcons Stand is scheduled to be relocated to the City End of the ground, while the installation of cable ducting for the new PA system and internet cabling around the perimeter of the outfield will be complete.

Other work around the ground includes the continued work on the new £2million Media Centre complex, expanding the Tea Room, installing new fencing and entrance gates and creating a new purpose-designed Club Shop and Bookshop.

Attempts were made to switch the fixture to the Fischer County Ground, but due to their own ground development commitments they were unable to host the fixture.

The two-day  friendly versus Yorkshire, starting on Tuesday 5 April at The 3aaa County Ground, is still scheduled to go ahead. Please note that this fixture will not be open to spectators.

The Club would like to thank Members, supporters and Leicestershire CCC for their understanding and co-operation during this period.

The three-day fixture versus Durham MCCU, starting on Monday 11 April at The 3aaa County Ground, will be open to spectators. Limited facilities are due to be available, with more details to be confirmed in due course.
