Billy Godleman has sustained a small fracture to his thumb and will miss the start of the Specsavers County Championship season.

The Club’s four-day Captain was hit on the hand in training on Sunday and x-rays on Monday revealed a small crack in his left thumb. He will now be monitored by the Club’s medical staff as he attempts to return to action as quickly as possible.

Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch says: “It’s not ideal but thankfully it’s not a bad break.

“Billy is actually quite optimistic about it. He’s a hard man who will be wanting to get out there as soon as he can but, in the meantime, it gives someone else an opportunity.”
