Derbyshire travel to Worcester for the third time this season as they continue their Royal London One Day Cup campaign at New Road.

This game will be the 61st scheduled fixture between the sides in limited overs cricket, Derbyshire having won 26, Worcestershire 30 with four succumbing to the weather with two ‘No Results’ and two abandoned.
The counties first met in a Gillette Cup game at Worcester in 1969 which Derbyshire won by four wickets, and most recently at Derby in a Royal London Cup game which Worcestershire won by the same margin in 2019.
That game in 2019 saw Derbyshire record their highest innings total against Worcestershire – 351 for 9 – only for the visitors to make their highest total as they made 353-6. That match aggregate of 704 runs is the largest for a one day game involving Derbyshire.
Seven Derbyshire players have scored hundreds in these games, Luis Reece making the highest individual score of 128 in the game at Derby in 2019, while John Wright is the only player to make two hundreds. Barry Wood made the highest individual score at Worcester, scoring 106 there in 1982.
There have been 11 century partnerships in these matches with Reece and Wayne Madsen’s 222 for the second wicket at Derby in 2019 sitting at the top of the list. The highest partnership at Worcester is 162 for the third wicket in 1993 by John Morris and Chris Adams.
The best bowling figures belong to Eddie Barlow who took five for 30 at Worcester in 1978, while Colin Tunnicliffe and Allan Warner both bagged five wicket hauls too.
In August 1979, Tunnicliffe took one of only three one day hat tricks for the county, against Worcestershire at Derby.
Between 1979 and 1984, Derbyshire won eight consecutive List A games against Worcestershire, but are currently on a three game losing streak. Their last win at Worcester was in 2016 when a superb Hamish Rutherford hundred steered Derbyshire to a seven wicket win.
