Wayne Madsen scored 150 to put Derbyshire in the ascendancy on Day Two at Bristol, before Gloucestershire’s batsmen fought back in the evening session.
The 32-year-old shared a record seventh-wicket stand for Derbyshire versus Gloucestershire of 128 with Tom Poynton – who scored 53 – as the visitors were bowled out for 444 in their first innings.
In reply, the opening pair of Cameron Bancroft and Chris Dent put on 102, almost batting through to the close, before the former was bowled by Shiv Thakor for 41, as the hosts ended the day on 110-1, trailing by 334.
