Derbyshire Second XI’s first day of their Championship match versus Leicestershire at Swarkestone Cricket Club was heavily hampered by the rain.

Only 23 overs were bowled on a day regularly suspended due to the rain showers across Derbyshire. Batting first, Leicestershire were 68-3 at the early close of play, with all three wickets falling to Ben Cotton.

Cotton was the star with the ball for Derbyshire, taking 3-7 from nine overs, including five maidens whilst Aadil Ali top-scored for the visitors with 39 before he was caught behind by Harvey Hosein off Cotton.
