Derbyshire County Cricket Club has received planning permission from Derby City Council for phase one of the proposed ground development at The 3aaa County Ground.

The first phase of development is scheduled to commence soon after the conclusion of the 2014 season.

It will see the Gateway Centre renovated into a state of the art cricket centre of excellence and pavilion, whilst also renovating the Lund Pavilion to create better facilities for Members, supporters, sponsors and Conference & Events customers.

The Club has already secured grant funding of £1million following the introduction of the Supervisory Board at the AGM in 2013 and the subsequent approval of the Club’s business plan by the ECB.

There is also potential for additional funding to support further phases of development, derived from projected commercial ECB income, which could substantially increase the available pot of money during forthcoming years.

Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: “After a robust planning process, we’re delighted that work on the first phase of our redevelopment can now begin.

“To fulfil our ambition for success on the field, we need first-class facilities for players, Members, spectators and our business customers.

“It’s all about improving the customer experience so they will choose to come back to Derbyshire time and time again.

“Improved customer facilities, within the Lund Pavilion, will be there for our members to enjoy and also to support growth in the Conference & Events arm of our business.

“This business growth, supported by improved facilities, will allow us to increase our revenue and therefore invest more in achieving success on the field.

“Work on phase one will commence in October with the view to be complete before the start of the 2015 season.”
