Gloucestershire suffered another wash-out with no play possible on the opening day of the LV=Insurance County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire at Derby.

The west country club has been blighted by bad weather this season and arrived at the Incora County Ground to find pools of surface water on the outfield after torrential rain in the area from early morning.

It was clear the prospects of any play were unlikely and although the umpires took lunch early at 12.30, the decision to call it off for the day was taken shortly  after 1pm.

The abandonment means Gloucestershire has now lost eight entire days to rain so far in 2023.
