Fresh off the back of international call-ups for Pakistan, seamer Zaman Khan has joined up with Derbyshire for the Vitality Blast campaign.
Representing Pakistan up through the age-groups, the 21-year-old fast bowler has developed an action not too dissimilar to Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga. Khan has amazed crowds with his eye-catching death bowling and ability to limit the run-scoring of batters. In his four international matches to date, Zaman Khan’s economy rate is only 6.66.
The bulk of the seamer’s T20 appearances have been made in the Pakistan Super League. Representing Lahore Qalandars, he has won the trophy twice already in his short career.
The 2022 edition saw Khan named as PSL emerging player of the season, with 18 wickets across the campaign.
More recently, Khan claimed 15 dismissals on the way to the 2023 PSL title, holding his nerve in the last over of the final to see his side win by one run.
As well as winning silverware in Pakistan, Khan has trophy success out in the Lanka Premier League with Jaffna Kings.
Zaman Khan has represented Pakistan in recent IT20 series against Afghanistan and New Zealand earlier this year. Bowling alongside the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, Khan has not looked out of place at all. Afridi is a team-mate at franchise side Qalandars and is a player Khan has looked up to for guidance and mentorship over the past couple of years.
The Pakistan quick can bowl at both ends of the innings but is especially effective at the back end of run-chases. Khan has spent a lot of time perfecting how to bowl yorkers, slower-balls and different variations to help his side win crucial matches and T20 titles.
He joins Derbyshire hoping to continue his hot streak of silverware success, as he boosts the Falcons bowling line-up on their pursuit of domestic T20 success.
