Derbyshire have named a 13-player squad for the LV= County Championship fixture against Sussex at The 1st Central County Ground, starting tomorrow at 11am.

Fast bowlers, Sam Conners and Suranga Lakmal, have returned to fitness, Conners from a calf strain and Lakmal from a minor concussion after being struck on the head against Yorkshire last month. Ben Aitchison has been ruled out of the remainder of the season with a back injury, while Matt Lamb (back) is also out, and Zak Chappell is rested while he manages with an ongoing tendon issue. Mark Watt is also unavailable, having played for Scotland in the ICC World Cup qualification tournament in Zimbabwe.

Just as in the most recent red ball game against Worcestershire, this fixture will see Derbyshire and Sussex using the Kookaburra ball, with the visiting batters hoping to replicate the showing at New Road, which saw Leus du Plooy, Anuj Dal and Wayne Madsen all score centuries.

10. Luis Reece
04. Harry Came
77. Wayne Madsen
76. Leus du Plooy (c)

The Opposition

Sussex are third in the LV= County Championship Division Two, just a point off second-placed Leicestershire with six games left to play.

Tom Alsop is their leading run-scorer, with 559 runs at an average of 55,90, while Australian fast bowler, Nathan McAndrew has claimed 26 wickets at just 21.15.

Sussex Academy graduates, Jack Carson and Henry Crocombe, have both signed new deals this week. Both players are enjoying strong seasons with bat and ball respectively. Ollie Robinson (England) and Cheteshwar Pujara (India) will miss the game due to international commitments.
