Spinner, Mark Watt, helped Scotland to qualification for next year’s ICC Twenty20 World Cup, while Madsen made his international debut for Italy in Edinburgh.
Scotland won all six of their games in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier 2023, finishing top of the group to qualify, along with second-placed Ireland.
Watt, who will return to Derbyshire for the start of the Metro Bank One Day Cup next week, claimed seven wickets and maintained an economy of 6.11. He also bowled the joint-most maidens in the competition, with two.
Madsen, who is Derbyshire’s all-time leading T20 run-scorer, helped the Azzuri to three wins to finish third and miss out on qualification by just two points. The batter scored a half-century on his international debut, where he also claimed an exceptional catch, and 42 in the final game against Germany.
The 39-year-old will join up with Manchester Originals for The Hundred, with Derbyshire also missing Leus du Plooy (Southern Brave), George Scrimshaw (Welsh Fire) and Zak Chappell (Oval Invincibles) throughout August.
