Derbyshire club, Sandiacre Town Cricket Club, will face Wimbledon Cricket Club in the Vitality Club T20 Cup Final at The Incora County Ground on Sunday 17 September.
Having won the regional stage of the competition, defeating Northern Cricket Club by five wickets, Sandiacre Town will now progress to their second national final in three seasons, having faced Bath Cricket Club in the ECB National Club Championship final in 2021. Wimbledon overcame Swansea Cricket Club by seven wickets in their regional final to set up the game at Derby.
Sandiacre Town are no strangers to the latter stages of national competitions, having won the National Club Championship in 2003 and 2014, they also last reached the final of this competition in 2016, and boast a number of Derbyshire alumni, with Dan Wheeldon, Connor Marshall and current Pathway prospect, Yousaf Bin Naeem.
Further details of the final will be announced in due course.
On reaching the final, Wheeldon said: “Reaching a national final not only shows the quality within our team, but the strength of cricket within Derbyshire and we hope to see a lot of familiar faces cheering us on at The Incora County Ground. People from all over the Derbyshire cricket network have been sending messages of good luck and we hope to make the county proud.”
