Reece wins 2023 Player of the Year Award

Derbyshire all-rounder, Luis Reece, has been named as the Club’s Player of the Year for the 2023 season. 

Reece, who also picked up the Club’s Metro Bank One Day Cup Player of the Year award, was recognised for his record-breaking feats with the bat, as well as his consistency across all three formats.

He broke the Club-record for consecutive first-class scores of 50 or more, with seven, while also became the first player in the history of the County Championship to score four centuries in the same season against the same county (Glamorgan). He finished top of the averages in first-class cricket, with an exceptional 87.33, while more than 600 white ball runs also came from his bat. With the ball, Reece claimed 34 wickets across all formats.

Wayne Madsen took home three awards: Vitality Blast Player of the Year, the Spirit of Cricket Award and the inaugural Members’ Player of the Year Award, sponsored by the Back to the Pavilion Podcast.

The LV= County Championship Player of the Year Award was claimed by Leus du Plooy, after the batter scored 1,236 runs during the campaign, while Nick Potts (Second XI Player of the Year), Harry Came (Most Improved Player of the Year) and Matt Lamb (Eddie Barlow Inspirational Performance) all took home silverware.

From the Club’s Pathway, Harry Moore was named Pathway Player of the Year, having made his first team debut in August, while Yousaf Bin Naeem won Pathway Performance of the Year, for his maiden Second XI century against Leicestershire.
