Dominic Cork was pleased to see Derbyshire end their Vitality Blast home campaign with a victory over Northants Steelbacks.

With two games remaining, the Falcons are currently fourth in the table after the nine-wicket victory in the final home Twenty20 of the season.

Derbyshire had previously beaten Yorkshire twice, Northants and Worcestershire Rapids, although only one of those wins took place at The Pattonair County Ground.

Cork was delighted that the supporters were able to enjoy one more home win, but emphasised that focus now turns to Sunday’s crucial trip to face Leicestershire Foxes.

“The captain and Wayne Madsen showed that the senior players can go out there and win the game. We have two points and are back in fourth, with a massive game at Leicestershire on Sunday,” said Cork.

“We take each game as it comes, I think that all of our players want to show the fans that the Leicestershire game (last week) was a one-off on Sunday.

“It was good to finish off at home with a victory, some of our results here have not been good enough and we have had chances to win games.

“I’m glad that the fans have got a little bit of joy at the end of the campaign, and let’s hope for another really good result on Sunday and see where we are after that.”

The Falcons end their group phase with a Bank Holiday weekend double-header away to Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday 25 August, and Lancashire Lightning on Monday 26 August.
