Staffordshire-born Hughes is a product of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby, and made his debut in 2011 in a Twenty20 game with List A and first class debuts following in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
A regular in the first team for several seasons, he has been almost ever-present in the Twenty20 side, proving particularly invaluable with the ball.
He has played over 200 games in all formats for Derbyshire, scoring almost 5,000 runs and taking 127 wickets as well as 114 catches.
He made his highest score of 142 against Gloucestershire at Bristol in 2017 and has made 6 hundreds in all.
He was awarded his County Cap in 2017.
