After Madsen and Godleman, Alex Hughes is the most experienced player in the current squad having played 238 all formats games for the county scoring 5,164 runs, taking 134 wickets and adding 120 catches for good measure.
An outstanding Twenty20 player, only one bowler has taken more wickets for Derbyshire in that format of the game.
By some distance, the most successful of the Derbyshire Academy graduates, Hughes has scored six hundreds and sixteen fifties and is a superb fielder, particularly in the slips.
His maiden hundred came in the three-day win at Northampton in 2015 while his career-best 142 was against Gloucestershire at Bristol in 2017.
