Thomson joined Derbyshire in 2021 signing a contract which will keep him at the club until the end of 2023.
A tall off-spinner capable of hard-hitting down the order, Thomson has played 33 all formats matches for Derbyshire scoring 411 runs and taking 43 wicket. He previously played for Warwickshire and Cardiff MCCU and during the championship game against Worcestershire at Derby in 2022 bowled a county record of 12 consecutive maiden overs .
