Current statistics

When Wayne Madsen scored 170 not out on his Derbyshire debut against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham in 2009 it was apparent that the county had unearthed a player of high quality.

Indisputably Derbyshire’s finest batsman of the 21st century, Madsen has scored 19,496 all formats runs in 421 matches with 41 hundreds and a further 108 fifties. Only two players have scored more runs for Derbyshire, and just one has made more hundreds.

His highest score of 231 not out came at Northampton in 2012, the year he captained Derbyshire to the County Championship division two title. He captained Derbyshire 132 times and was capped in 2011.

Madsen has also developed into Derbyshire’s best and most prolific Twenty20 batter, but his presence in the longer format is still excellent. He claimed the 2024 County Championship Player of the Year, after registering three centuries at an average of over 50.
