Wayne Madsen will be out for at least four weeks after undergoing surgery on a finger injury sustained in the LV= County Championship fixture versus Northamptonshire at the start of May.

The Club Captain, who sustained the injury on the final day of the fixture at The 3aaa County Ground, underwent successful surgery on Friday afternoon and is now expected to be unavailable for a minimum of four weeks.

Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch said: “It’s a blow to lose the Captain at this stage of the season but we have a strong squad and I’m sure lads will step up.

“We have Billy Godleman to come back into the four-day side and other players, such as Scott Elstone and Chesney Hughes, who have shown good form since been given their opportunities.”

The Falcons host their first home NatWest T20 Blast fixture on Friday 29 May (7pm start) against Lancashire Lightning at The 3aaa County Ground.
