Former Derbyshire batsman Tony Borrington is the latest ex-player named to be attending the Proud to be Derbyshire Heritage Project Lunch on Sunday 15 November at The 3aaa County Ground.

Borrington is the third former Derbyshire player to be announced for the event as he joins ex-Derbyshire and England batsman Chris Adams and legendary fast bowler Harold Rhodes, with more players to be announced in due course.

The trio will form part of a panel which will look back at some of the famous images from the Club’s history. There will also be a Q&A session for guests to pose questions to the panel.

Derbyshire Vice-President Borrington played 122 first-class matches and 150 List A games for the county between 1970 and 1981, scoring over 7,000 runs. The former England Under 19s Captain was also the first player to score 2,000 List A runs for Derbyshire.

Borrington was also part of the Derbyshire side that reached the 1978 Benson & Hedges Cup final at Lord’s, featuring alongside the likes of Eddie Barlow, Peter Kirsten, Geoff Miller and Bob Taylor.

The lunch will celebrate the Proud to be Derbyshire Heritage Project, funded thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, and a selection of photographs and items collated as part of the project will be on display.

Tickets are still available for the Heritage Lunch are priced at £30 per person, with all proceeds going to the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation (Registered Charity No: 1155801).

Guests will be treated to a delicious two-course Sunday Lunch at the event which will take place in the 3aaa Pavilion.
