Get off the mark this week with quick-fire stories to keep you up to date with the latest news from Derbyshire.

Tomorrow is the day when the 2019 fixtures will be released, from 10am, as you start to plan your summer. We also have news from overseas with Wayne Madsen and Hardus Viljoen (pictured) and an interview with Alex Hughes.

Fixtures out tomorrow

It’s almost time to start plotting your calendar and looking into away trips, as Derbyshire learn their 2019 summer fixtures tomorrow from 10am.

Derbyshire will host up to 39 days of domestic home cricket next summer with Specsavers County Championship, Royal London One-Day Cup and Vitality Blast action.

Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures will be announced at 10am, before the full list of Vitality Blast matches will be released at 5pm.

Hughes turns attention to 2019

Alex Hughes is keen to put the hard yards in now during fitness training, but admits he already has one eye on next summer.

27-year-old Hughes, who featured in every competitive fixture in 2018, believes the work done now can have a lasting impact throughout the summer.

Derbyshire players overseas

Hardus Viljoen has got off to a prolific start in the T10 league in the UAE, taking five wickets in the first three matches, at an average of 8.60 and with best figures of 3-16 as the Northern Warriors top the Group B table.

He is in the same side as Wahab Riaz, who took 15 Vitality Blast wickets for Derbyshire last season, and the Pakistan quick has claimed three wickets from his six overs.

Derbyshire teammate Wayne Madsen is also set for a busy winter after being snapped up by Peshawar Zalmi for the Pakistan Super League, which takes place in Dubai from February to March, with the final in Lahore.
