Anuj Dal is looking forward to celebrating Derbyshire’s 150th anniversary with Members and hopes to welcome new supporters into the club during the historic year.
After signing a new deal earlier this year, Dal will be part of the squad that marks a century-and-a-half of Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 2020.
Club Membership is currently available for just £169, and Dal hopes to use the special year as a way to celebrate with supporters and has encouraged new supporters to be a part of history.
“2020 will be massive for us, it will be such a special year,” Dal said.
“I’ve only been with the club for a year-and-a-half, but you can just sense this is a family club that welcomes everyone. Being at a club for its 150th year is awesome and all of the players will be embracing it.
“Hopefully we can welcome some new supporters in with our loyal Members, who have followed the club for years, and make it a really special year for them.
“We made it to Finals Day this year, hopefully next year it is written in the stars that we can go one step further and win a trophy.”
The all-rounder says that the close relationship that Derbyshire players have with Members is something that the players enjoy, as the support can give players confidence throughout the season.
“There are so many Members out there that support you non-stop,” Dal added.
“If you are having a bad time in the season and are quite low on confidence, it is nice to know that they will have your back no matter what.
“They support you all the way from Second XI cricket to the first team, the Members follow it all. It’s absolutely brilliant, and to be able to give back to them by doing well is really pleasing.
“It gives us so much satisfaction to know that we are doing well for the Members, and the club as a whole. You don’t always see that kind of loyalty and closeness at bigger clubs, because players are often seen to be bigger than the supporters, so to have a club with such a close-knit relationship is amazing.”
