Billy Godleman and the side travelled to Kidderminster to face Worcestershire in the Specsavers County Championship in their penultimate first-class fixture before the start of the Vitality Blast.
After a frantic first day which saw 20 wickets fall, including four from Luis Reece, Derbyshire took control of the match thanks to a resolute 132 not out from Tom Lace, who was backed up by half-centuries from Wayne Madsen (60) and Tony Palladino (58).
Needing 383 to win, the hosts fell short in their run chase, with Ravi Rampaul (4-64), Palladino (3-34) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (3-42) sharing the ten wickets.
