To celebrate the 150th year of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, we sit down with players, staff, legends and Members to find out just what the club means to them.
Mal Loye faced Derbyshire a number of times throughout his career, during spells with Northamptonshire and Lancashire, before the former England international joined the club as Head of Development in 2016.
Having experienced the feeling of playing in Derby as part of the opposition, Loye says that the passion of the Derbyshire supporters is something that stands out to visiting players.
“In the 90s, especially when I used to come and play here, there were not too many happy memories for myself,” said Loye.
“It was always a green wicket, produced for Devon Malcolm, Ian Bishop and Dominic Cork, and that continued with Cork into the early 2000s.
“It’s an intimidating place to play, the supporters are very proud of their cricket within the county.”
