Board appointments confirmed

Derbyshire have welcomed three Non-Executive Directors to the Board, as elected at the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27 March 2024. 

Tom Poynton, Jeff Moore and Rachel Morris each begin three-year terms, replacing Colin Tunnicliffe, Hari Punchihewa and Jason Fage respectiveley.

Moore joins as Non-Executive Director – Finance, With a distinguished career as Chair, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Jeffrey Moore has a wide range of Executive and Non-Executive experience across a broad range of sectors, including Property, Venture Capital, Brewing, Aerospace and Professional Sport.

He joined the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) in 1999 as CFO, becoming CEO in 2004, where he worked with several government departments delivering Economic Development and Business Support initiatives worth circa £200million per annum across the East Midlands until he retired in 2012.

Moore is currently Chair of two Venture Capital Fund Advisory Committees, these funds having invested circa £70 million in investee companies, while he has previously been Chair of three other similar advisory committees investing over £100 million in businesses nationwide.

A former Chair of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club (2021-2023) and Notts County Football Club in the mid-2000s, Moore has an extensive understanding of the professional sport sector and uses his vast experience and engaging leadership style to support organisations through positive change.

Morris has been elected Non-Executive Director – General and is CEO at SV2 – Supporting Victims of Sexual Violence Ltd, and founder of the fundraising group Friends of Derby 500 Club.

She has held senior strategic roles across the city including at Derby Cathedral, the Diocese of Derby, YMCA Derbyshire, DHA, The Derby Law Centre and Relate, while she has undertaken voluntary roles and chaired multi-agency forums in an attempt to improve the lives of those disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalised in society.

A trustee of the Derby County Community Trust, responsible for safeguarding and investment, Morris is passionate about the City of Derby and the wider county, while she is a keen Derbyshire cricket supporter, regularly attending matches at The County Ground, where she first worked while studying at University

Poynton returns to Derbyshire as Non-Executive Director – Cricket. A former Derbyshire player for almost a decade and a member of the 2012 County Championship Division Two title-winning side, Poynton has a deep and current understanding of the professional game. Away from cricket, he has developed a successful career in financial advice and investment management. He holds an Executive Director position at an FCA-regulated investment management business, a role which provides him with a strong foundation in governance, risk and financial management, and strategic business planning.

At the AGM on Wednesday 27 March, Club Chair, Ian Morgan, thanked Jason Fage, Hari Punchihewa and Colin Tunnicliffe for their dedicated service throughout their time on the Board, and announced that all three will be awarded Vice Presidencies with immediate effect.
