Pre-Match Pack: Yorkshire Vikings

Hardus Viljoen is set to make his Derbyshire debut after being named in a 12-man squad for the Royal London One-Day Cup match versus Yorkshire Vikings on Sunday 7 May; 11am start.

The fast bowler, who has missed the start of the season through injury, featured for the Second XI on Thursday, bowling six overs and hitting 32 off just 11 balls, and will now travel with the squad to Headingley on Sunday.

Gary Wilson, however, is unavailable due to his commitments with Ireland who play England in the second ODI at Lord’s on Sunday. Daryn Smit, who has claimed 107 dismissals behind the stumps in 110 List A matches, will take the gloves in Wilson’s absence.

Tony Palladino, Will Davis and Rob Hemmings all miss out through injury.

Billy Godleman has scored over 50 in four of his last five innings; posting more than 90 in three of those knocks. He is set to open the innings with Ben Slater, who is averaging 51 in the competition so far.

Opposition

Yorkshire Vikings have made a strong start to the Royal London One-Day Cup, winning three of their first four matches in the competition.

Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Liam Plunkett and David Willey are unavailable as they join up with the England squad for the ODI series against Ireland.

Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, Peter Handscomb, will take the gloves in Bairstow’s absence and slot into the middle order, averaging 34.6 in List A cricket.

21-year-old fast bowler Matthew Waite has taken six wickets in the competition so far, at an average of under 20.
