Together, we are all Derbyshire: Bob Taylor

Friday 31st January 2020
Written by Stephen Martin

To celebrate the 150th year of Derbyshire County Cricket Club,  we sit down with players, staff, legends and Members to find out just what the club means to them.

Bob Taylor’s two decades with Derbyshire saw him become the world-record holder for first-class dismissals as a wicketkeeper, with his tally of 1,649 still standing today.

The former England Test player still has a strong affinity with the club, and believes that being a first-class county is something that is meaningful for supporters.

“Playing for Derbyshire allowed me to play for England and travel the world,” said Taylor.

“The club has been around for 150 years, and it still means a lot to the local people. Having a first-class county is really special.”
