Former Derbyshire bowler Edwin Smith is attending the Proud to be Derbyshire Heritage Project Lunch on Sunday 15 November at The 3aaa County Ground.

Smith is the fourth former Derbyshire player to be announced for the event as he joins ex-Derbyshire and England international Chris Adams, legendary fast bowler Harold Rhodes and former batsman Tony Borrington.

The quartet will form part of a panel which will look back at some of the famous images from the Club’s history, with more players to be announced for the event in due course. There will also be a Q&A session for guests to pose questions to the panel.

Off-spinner Smith played for Derbyshire in three different decades between 1951 and 1971 and represented the county in 497 first-class matches, claiming 1209 wickets at an average of 25.79.

Smith also recorded 51 five-wicket hauls, as well as taking ten wickets in a match on four occasions. He also came close to taking all ten wickets in an innings versus Scotland in 1955 as he took 9-46 before Arnold Hamer dismissed the last man to deny him a feat which only two Derbyshire bowlers have achieved.

The lunch will celebrate the Proud to be Derbyshire Heritage Project, funded thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, and a selection of photographs and items collated as part of the project will be on display.

Tickets are still available for the Heritage Lunch are priced at £30 per person, with all proceeds going to the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation (Registered Charity No: 1155801).

Guests will be treated to a delicious two-course Sunday Lunch at the event which will take place in the 3aaa Pavilion.
